Urgent Repairs Funded by Grant

Urgent Repairs Funded by Grant

Our historic Church has received a grant of £164,678 from the government via the Churches Conservation Trust. Work will be done to the 15th century tower which needs urgent extensive masonry repairs. Also the Benedictine priory ruins will receive much needed attention. This grant will enable this historic building to continue its role as an active and vibrant venue for many community activities.   One of the main aims of the Friends of St, Mary’s Church has been to ensure the safety of the public from falling masonry when visiting the Church.  The Friends of St. May’s have been generous in supporting the Churches Conservation Trust over these repairs and £40,000 extra is being provided from funds which the Friends have given to the CCT.
